Soprano Emma Tring and I have recently launched a new vocal duo - LOUD COWS (our name is inspired by an eponymous Ursula Le Guin poem, which Emma set to music for us). As a duo we are looking to explore and interpret existing repertoire and to commission new works that can speak to our experiences, particularly as women. Our ability to interpret fiendish repertoire has been honed through being core members of EXAUDI vocal ensemble, and this is reflected in our Contemporary Cows a cappella programme. Singing in the BBC Singers and freelancing has developed in us an ability to jump from era to era, donning various different hats and adapting our vocal styles in the process. This is reflected in our Lucky Dip programme, where we enjoy juxtaposing repertoire from Strozzi to Saariaho, hopefully dazzling audiences with our versatility and virtuosity.
See below live videos from our launch weekend concert in Forest Row, where we were lucky to be joined by collaborative pianist Jocelyn Freeman. Below the videos you will find a list of the repertoire that we included in both programmes.
