This year Lucy will be collaborating with pianist Siwan Rhys on an American songbook recital programme. During a 2-part Aldeburgh residency Lucy and Siwan will work with composer Laura Bowler to develop a 20 minute song cycle reflecting on American society and politics through the eyes of women writers. Laura's commission, along with an exciting new commission by Canadian composer Christopher Mayo, will form the centrepiece of an American-themed programme containing works by Charles Ives, Henry Cowell, John Cage, Morton Feldman (including two UK premieres), Milton Babbitt, George Crumb, and extracts from British composer Michael Finnissy’s epic song cycle Whitman. The Songbook project will tour throughout the UK in Autumn 2017, including performances at Durham University, City University, the Hurst Festival, and the Brunel Tunnel Shaft in Rotherhithe. Please revisit this page soon for more information, and for a link to the project website.
Lucy is hugely grateful to be supported by PRS for Music Foundation, Snape Maltings, the RVW Trust and the Hinrichsen Foundation.
